Sundowns make South African history with 24-0 win

Mamelodi Sundowns have made history after defeating 4th league team, Powerlines FC in a 24-0 goal-fest. Powerlines who play in the SAB Regional League were left powerless as they conceded 10 goals in the first half of the Nedbank Cup tie in Kimberley.

Sundowns FC made South African history with some entertaining football, midfielder, Hlompho Kekana netted a total of 7 goals while  Zimbabwian born Nyasha Mushekwi  clinched a total of 6 goals.

Striker Richard Henyekane netted in 5 goals, there were a couple of goals that were disallowed but I doubt that would of brought any relief to the defensively challenged Powerlines FC goal-keeper, Thabang Louw.

Ironically it was Sundowns who put up an electrifying performance, comfortably placing themselves within the last 16 of the tournament by knocking out the Tshwane side.

The Brazilians crushed Powerlines FC’s defense and their hopes to progress in the final stages of the Net Bank cup. The score-line was absolutely humiliating yet smiles were frequently seen on the pitch.

Malodi Sundowns manage to break the South African  record win which took place in 1976, when AmaZulu defeted Bizana All Stars 16 -0
